The Maple Lake girls and boys track teams finished first and second, respectively, at the sub-section 17A meet last week and advanced 25 athletes and 10 alternates to the Section 5A meet at St. John’s this week for a shot at state.
Catie Fobbe set the school and stadium record in the discus, Tuesday, May 23, at Maple Lake High School, throwing it 124 feet and 1 inch for first place. The top four individuals and top two relays advance to sections, along with anyone who meets the section standard. Fobbe was also named Central Minnesota Athlete of the Week, due in part to her performance.
Other notable performances came from the girls 4x800-meter relay team of Ava Mergen, Sophie Pribyl, Gus Demarais, and Bionca Peterson with their first-place performance.
