Irish baseball takes third at state

Maple Lake baseball set a new school record by improving upon its fourth-place-at-state finish last year. Last week the team battled its way to third place, defeating Rochester Lourdes and Marshall School, Duluth en route. The team's only loss was to returning state champions, Minnehaha Academy. Maple Lake High School athletes broke another record last week as the Irish baseball team cruised to third place in Class AA at the Minnesota State High School League State Baseball Tournament, the best finish in school history.
Maple Lake secured its position among the top four by defeating No. 5 seed Rochester Lourdes 11-1 in the first round of the tournament.
