Letting it shine: Maple Lake youth to act in Mary Poppins

Ethan Pavlenko, a fourth grader at Maple Lake Elementary School “dazzled” directors with his charm, dry wit and spot-on British accent on his way to securing a lead role in Buffalo Community Theatre’s production of “Mary Poppins The Broadway Musical.”
Pavlenko, eight, going on nine years old, will play Michael Banks, a mischievous youth bent on pranking his hapless nannies until the “practically perfect” Mary Poppins comes along to take him and his sister Jane on a magical adventure. Performances start on Friday, July 21 at the Buffalo High School Performing Arts Center with the last show on Sunday, July 23.
