The Maple Lake Lakers put together another 3-1 week to continue their ascent in the North Star League standings. Wins against perennial power Delano and current NSL king Hutchinson show that the Lakers are a tough team that can hang with anyone in the league. The NSL regular season ends on Sunday, July 23, and the Lakers are holding on to third place, but there is a logjam between second and seventh with many seeds in play. Maple Lake has a critical game against DC and a pair of games against teams that have losing records but are capable of upsets, so it should be a wild finish to the season.
