Students are welcomed back with a picnic

Ryan Highberg, Food Service director at Maple Lake Schools, seasons burgers at an outdoor cookout, Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the high school to celebrate the students’ first day back at school. According to Highberg, the Wellness Team put the event together as a way to make the return to classes a little more fun. Seventh through 12th grade students had the chance to choose between burgers, hotdogs and brats. They were also given carrots, chips and sparkling water donated by Viking Coca-Cola in St. Cloud. The Wellness Team tried to put this event together last year, they even had a student set up to D.J., but it was rained out.
