Delano Price, Maple Lake

Delano Price, age 71, of Maple Lake, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in the Maple Lake area. He was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Erwin, Tenn., to James and Decky Price. Delano moved to Minneapolis in 1959 and lived with his oldest brother, Larry (Joyce) Price. He was united to marriage to Marlene Baltus on June 7, 1962, at Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Hector. This union was blessed with the birth of one son, Keith, and one daughter, Diane. He worked for the Supervalue warehouse for several years before retiring. He also drove bus for Buffalo and Minnetonka schools. In 1983, he married Lois Raisanen. Delano is preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, a half- brother and a half- sister.

June H. Slager, formerly of Maple Lake

June H. Slager, age 97, of Argyle, Wis., formerly of Maple Lake, MN died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, Wis. Graveside services were July 12, at 1 p.m. in Oakland Memory Lanes, Dolton, Ill. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle served the family. In lieu of flowers, please plant flowers, go to a sporting event, or have a meal with a friend or family member. June would want you to be happy, notice the beauty of nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. June was born June 28, 1916, in Maple Lake, the daughter of Bert and Nora (Bergstrom) Meintsma. She graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Adrian Slager on Aug. 1, 1936, in Chicago. She lived in Chicago until moving to Argyle in 1979.

Gregory C. Jude, Maple Lake

Gregory C. Jude, age 86, of Maple Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, surrounded by family at the Annandale Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. Mark Juettner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Timothy’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Timothy’s School. Gregory Calvin Jude was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Maple Lake Township to Cyrus and Mary (Ramey) Jude and he graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1944. On Oct. 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Anabel Munstenteiger. Greg was a farmer and carpenter, building his own home on the farm. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Eric Raisanen, formerly of Annandale

Eric J. Raisanen, age 40, of Sauk Centre and formerly of Annandale, died suddenly Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, after a tragic accident. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with Rev. Edward Groop officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in French Lake. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday, both at the funeral chapel. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral chapel. Eric Joseph Raisanen was born March 2, 1973, in St. Cloud, to Raymond and Doris (Kangas) Raisanen. He grew up in Annandale and graduated from Annandale High School with the Class of 1991. Eric was working as the assistant superintendent at GreyStone Golf Club in Sauk Centre. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially baseball and golf.

Fundraiser orders ready at A-Meat Shoppe
The sixth grade class at Maple Lake Elementary has completed their first fundraiser, selling food items provided by A-Meat Shoppe of Maple Lake. All those who purchased items are reminded to pick up their orders from Oct. 20-23 at A-Meat Shoppe on Highway 55.

This 16-square-foot garden also boasts seed saving from the previous year pok choy, 3 broccoli, 2 cabbage, 1 kohlrabi, 2 marigold, 2 parsley from the past season, 1 egg plant, 1 endive, 2 empty spaces for a new lettuce to come and now 2 new pok choy.

School board approves fourth bid in ballfield project

Another piece to the community ballfield puzzle was addressed on Monday when the Maple Lake School Board accepted a bid for the athletic complex well and field irrigation. 
The bids accepted by the board in June were as follows: excavation and grading, Dennis Fehn Gravel and Excavating of Albertville, $163,192; fencing, Town and Country Fence, Brooklyn Park, $71,000; landscaping, Terra Services, Lakeland, $39,560.
