Security State Bank is welcoming a new board member and making history at the same time. On July 23, Angie Pribyl of Maple Lake became the first female director on the board in the bank’s 97-year history.
Pribyl, the daughter of Alvin and Bonnie Elfmann, is a life-long area resident, a graduate of Annandale High School, and received an Accounting degree from St. Cloud Tech. She was hired by Wright-Hennepin Electrical Association 24 years ago and rose through the ranks to her selection in 1996 as the successor to the retiring Al Elsenpeter as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
She is married to Ted Pribyl and has two daughters: Jennifer, who will be a junior at the University of Minnesota; and Mary, a sophomore at Minnesota State, Mankato.
Pribyl is active in the Maple Lake community, serving on the Finance Committee and as a trustee at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, as president of the Maple Lake Property Owners Association, as secretary/treasurer of the Sherwood Forest Association, and as a member of the Maple Sno-Trackers snowmobile club. Her appointment as a bank director expands the board to nine members, who include George Palmer, Doyle Van Dyne, Russ Baker, Don Weismann, Paul McHugh, Peter McHugh, Jim McHugh, and Greg Thomes.
Pribyl said she was honored to be asked to join the Security Bank board and pointed to similarities between the bank and Wright-Hennepin.
“Both are very similar in that they are very community oriented, locally owned, have good teams of employees and provide good customer service,” she said. “I think Security State Bank is very well-managed and very similar to Wright-Hennepin in outlook as to where these businesses are going.”
Wright-Hennepin CEO Mark Vogt said Pribyl will be a valuable addition to the bank’s board.
“I was really pleased that she was selected for their board,” he said. “Our mission statement stresses our commitment toward improving the quality of life in the communities we serve. This appointment is a great way to demonstrate that commitment.”
And Security State Bank President Doyle Van Dyne said Pribyl will be an asset to the board.
“A bank’s Board of Directors plays a critical role in the successful operation of a bank,” he said. “Board members bring with them experience from their fields of expertise. Angie brings to the board years of experience in the accounting and finance areas as a Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Wright-Hennepin Electric. Being a local resident, she also understands the local economy and she knows what is happening in the local area. These skills are important when serving on a bank Board of Directors.
“Change in the financial marketplace has created a more competitive and challenging environment for all banks. As a result, the role of the bank director has grown in importance and complexity. We feel that Angie can help Security State Bank meet the challenges that lie ahead and make a strong bank even better.”
