It was a rainy Take a Senior Fishing Day, Saturday, Aug. 27, but that didn’t stop the fishermen and women from getting out on the lake, catching fish and having fun. Three pontoons took about 10 people out on Maple Lake for the annual Maple Lake Lion-sponsored event that gives seniors living at Maple Manor Apartments a chance to wet their lines. Richard Erdahl, Steve Loch and Chris Nelson volunteered their boats and their time to take the groups around the lake to their favorite fishing holes. When all was said and done, the crew cleaned about 32 fish which they fried up as part of the annual fish fry at the Manor that evening. Most were sunfish with a couple crappies thrown in, Lion Steve Mooney said. The group used bait donated by H&H Sport Shop.
