Referendum fails to earn voter approval along with capital levy

Voters denied the Maple Lake School district’s request for a referendum for operations and technology, Tuesday, Nov. 8.
All together, in the district’s nine precincts, 1,247 residents voted yes to question number one that called for a $584.18 per pupil operating levy which would have generated about $500,000 per year for the next 10 years. A total of 1,511 voters marked no.
Question number two, which called for a capital project levy that would have generated $100,000 to update and maintain technology, earned 1,155 yes votes and 1,495 no votes.
