The Irish boys basketball team had a tough week in Central Minnesota Conference play.
Hindered by illness, the Maple Lake team fell 62-43 to Kimball on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and lost 54-44 to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Friday, Feb. 3.
“Kimball is a good team that shot the ball very well. Our guys did a nice job of moving the ball and creating some open looks, but the ball wasn’t falling for us tonight,” Staloch said. “There were times when we defended well, but in order to beat quality opponents like Kimball we have to defend every possession.”
By the end of the first half the Cubs were up 36 to 25. Kimball out-scored the Irish 26-18 in the second half.
