Don’t be alarmed at the sight of a shiny red fire truck turning down your street, Tuesday, August 1. Odds are they are not there to fight a fire, but to hand out ice cream treats in recognition of National Night Out.
Every first Tuesday of August, the Maple Lake Fire Department sends trucks through Maple Lake neighborhoods to disperse ice cream sandwiches to anyone out-of-doors, young and old, as part of the national campaign to promote police-community partnerships and encourage safe living and neighborly activity.
Across the country, millions of people spend this night at cookouts, block parties, parades, and law enforcement agencies host demonstrations and spend time in the community.
