After winning the state volleyball title last year with virtually the same team as this year, the Maple Lake High School volleyball team was predicted to go far. Ranked No. 1 from the get-go, the Irish never strayed far from their path, powering their way to a 29-0, perfect season.
The Maple Lake team closed the door on the regular season, Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Paynesville where they won 3-0 to earn the Central Minnesota Conference championship for the second year in a row. The Irish start the section tournament this week as the No. 1 seed in the Class 6AA east sub-section. Rocori claimed the high honor on the west side of the sub-section.
