The Maple Lake High School girls cross country team claimed its fourth win of the season, beating 10 other teams at St. John’s Prep, Thursday, Sept. 28, during the Fr. Otto Weber Cross Country Invitational.
“It was a beautiful evening in a picturesque setting, contrasted by a tough course with ruts and rocks–a true cross-country course,” coach Ben Youngs said.
The rugged course worked to the advantage of Gus Demarais, who is a strong runner and does well on courses like this, Youngs said.
Demarais was the meet champion, beating the runner-up by nearly 30 seconds with a time of 20:44.
