By Brenda Erdahl, Sports Editor. The Bison Swim and Dive team had a huge night, Thursday, Jan. 18, thanks to a big comeback for a 93-93 tie at St. Michael-Albertville. The win sets the team up for its Thursday, Jan. 25, home contest with Chicago Lakes. If the Bison beat Chisago Lakes, it should guarantee at least a tie for the Mississippi 8 Conference Championship, Tanya Malwitz said. Maple Lake swimmer Dakota Malwitz had a hand in the Bison’s success; he competed in the 200 free, 100 back, and the 400 relay, Thursday and dropped his time in all three events. “Dakota felt pretty good with his swimming and events. He now wants to work on his stamina during the 100 back stroke. Dakota seems to run out of steam around the third lap and has to really dig deep for that last bit of energy to get to the wall ahead of the competition and on a good time,” Malwitz said.
