Irish Soar Past Flyers

The Irish gymnastics team tallied three first and three second place finishes on their way to a 130.525 to 123.175 win over Little Falls, Friday, Jan. 19 in Little Falls. Gracie Elsenpeter posted top scores on the vault, floor, and all-around. She placed first on the vault with a 9.350, the floor with a 9.325, and the allaround with a 35.175. Olivia LaTour finished runner- up on the vault with an 8.7. Elsenpeter claimed seconds on the uneven parallel bars with an 8.0 and the balance beam with an 8.5. LaTour was also fourth on the bars with a 7.2, and fourth on the beam with a 7.55. She tied for third on the floor exercise with teammate Shauni Johnson. Both girls posted 8.55 scores. LaTour finished off the evening with a fourth place finish in the all-around with a cumulative score of 32.0. Johnson also finished fourth on the vault with an 8.55; was fifth on the uneven parallel bars with a 7.1; claimed third on the beam with a 7.925, and was third in the all-around with a 32.125. Abby Gagnon finished fifth on the vault with a 8.350 and 10th on the floor with a 7.1. Brooke Mergen was seventh on the vault with an 8.1, she tied for sixth on the bars with teammate Susie Rieber with a score of 6.950; tied for fifth on the beam with a Little Falls athlete with a score of 7.525; was fifth on the floor with an 8.4, and tied for fifth in the allaround with a Little Falls athlete. Their scores were 30.975. Reiber placed seventh on the beam with a 7.45. The Irish will host Rush City on Friday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 30, Maple Lake will host Sauk Rapids- Rice at 6 p.m.
