The Monticello Moose Hockey team won an on-theroad, 4-3 nail-biter over Mississippi 8 Conference rival North Branch, Thursday, Jan. 11. Kayle Bocken put the Moose on the board at 2:17 of the first period. Maple Lake senior Devon Lyons lengthened the Monticello lead with assists by Jake Friede and Maple Lake sophomore Jeffrey Henrikson. Chase Bocken scored a final first-period goal for the Moose. North Branch answered with a goal of its own to make the score 3-1. North Branch closed the gap in the next two periods to knot the score and force the game into overtime. Monticello’s Troy Dahlheimer got the gamewinning goal 31 seconds into the period with an assist by Bocken.
The Moose were scheduled to play on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Mora; on Thursday, Jan. 18, Monticello will host St. Francis at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 20, the Moose travel to Isanti to take on Cambridge-Isanti at 2 p.m.
