Annandale-Maple Lake’s ninth grade and under wrestling league qualified for the state tournament early last week, then ended the week with a seventh place finish at the prestigious event. On Monday, Jan. 15 the ANML team traveled to Delano and were in a pool of nine teams. Despite being the No. 6 seed, they took second to qualify for the state tournament. They upset No. 3 Dassel- Cokato, then No. 2 Hutchinson on their way. In the finals they dropped a 45-30 dual to Prior Lake to finish runner-up. On Saturday, Jan. 20 the team traveled to Hastings to try their luck in a field of 24 teams at the state tournament. They beat Becker in the first round folloed by Forest Lake before dropping the next two duals. In the seventh-place match they beat host school Hastings. The team’s seventh place finish tied the highest finish for ANML in this league. Team members are: Logan Arnold, Zayne Brown, Jackson Bunde, Zack Danielson, Jack Klug, Adam Neuman, Zach Schmidt, Ben Schuldt, Thomas Driscoll, Kessler Kenning, Jake Vassar, Zach Pribyl, Alex Klatt, Riley Hall, Carson Cooper, Jacob Klatt, Mitch Koss, Jared Gades, and Boston Trent.
