Legion Donates to MLFD

Maple Lake’s American Legion Post 131 donated $4000 in gambling profits to the Maple Lake Fire Deptartment over the past year to assist in upgrading their water rescue equipment which went on-line about a year ago. The new unit is larger than the previous trailer which allows the firemen to transport more life saving equipment to the scene. It contains an inflatable boat and a 15 hp. outboard, along with flotation devises, ropes and several Mustang rescue suits for the firemen to use. They are similar to those used at the Arctic Plunge during the Maple Lake Fishing Derby.

Bill Helmbrecht and Brad Hennen took it upon themselves to design the trailer for their equipment and that included building shelving, etc.

Pictured with the trailer are firemen Bill Helmbrecht and Brad Hennen, Legion Commander Gary Jude, and legionaries Tom Mooney, Ken Hennen, Jim Mc- Cann and Dennis Paumen. Fire department Steve Peterson was also on hand and thanked the Legion Post 131 for helping make the trailer improvement project possible as well as for other fire department project in which the Legion Post has participated.
