Mr. Andrew Brown, Mrs. Jenn DesMarais-Holland, and Mr. Steve Fuchs teach sixth grade students at Maple Lake Elementary School. They each have about 20 students in their home rooms, and each has one or more area of specialization. Mr. Brown covers social studies and science, Mrs. DesMarais- Holland teaches language arts, and Mr. Fuchs instructs the math curriculum.

The students rotate between the three classrooms for their 85 minute sessions. The three teachers described sixth grade as a “year of discovery” for their students when all of the skills they have learned in the lower grades come together and start to be combined. They also commented on how well the primary school teachers set the foundation for the kids, and that sixth grade is fun to teach since the students are learning about accepting responsibility and also developing their sense of humor.
