Spencer Ledwein (right) age 23 and Nephew Hank Ledwein (left) age 5, caught this monster of a Muskie not on a fishing line, but with a vexilar. While trying to capture any movement through a couple of fishing holes, he dropped the vexilar chord into a hole. Monitored at being five feet deep, he tried to retrieve the chord, which surprisingly pulled back. As he pulled, the head of the Muskie popped into the hole. The fish, which could barely get through, was pulled up by Spencer as he grabbed it by the gill plate and yanked it on shore. The fish measured 50” and the girth at 24”. “I think the whole lake heard me,” Spencer explained his excitement. The fish was caught on Sugar Lake.
