Irish Basketball Players Bring Home the Hardware

The Irish boys basketball team celebrated a winning 22-6 season, Monday, April 9, at an end-of-the-year awards banquet at Maple Lake High School. According to head coach Tim Staloch, the 22 wins are the third most for the Irish basketball program. The group finished with a 13-1 conference record with the only loss being by two points. Pictured at left, back row, from left, Ben Reilley was named one of two most improved players by the team. He also earned Central Minnesota All Conference Academic Team honors with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher. Joseph Stokman was the Irish’s assists leader with 78, was a CMC Player of the Week for the week of January 15, was voted one of two most improved players by his teammates, is a first team all-conference selection, and earned all conference academic honors. Andy Mavencamp is a second team all-conference selection; Alex Toedter was the team’s leading rebounder with 204, was voted Hardest Worker by his teammates, and is a second team all-conference selection; Cole Trager was the Irish’s leader in steals with 47 and charges taken with 19, was a CMC Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 5, was voted Defensive Player of the Year by his teammates, is a first team all-conference selection, and was selected to the All-Section team. Front row, from left, Wyatt Jacobs was named to the CMC All-Conference Academic Team; Jacob Fynboh was named to the CMC All-Conference Academic Team; Mitch Hoistad led the Irish in free-throw percentage shooting 76 percent, was a CMC Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 17, was named Offensive Player of the Year by his teammates, is a first team all-conference selection, was selected to the All-Section team, and was named to the CMC All-Conference Academic Team; Aiden Staloch was named to the CMC All-Conference Academic Team.
