Louann “Louie” Haas, age 75, of Maple Lake, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at The Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary Campus after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake with Deacon Ron Freeman officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Louann Catherine Haas was born December 17, 1942 in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota to Joseph and Hildegard (Douvier) Waldorf. Louie grew up in Millerville and graduated from Brandon High School. Louie was united in marriage to Tom Haas. They lived in Minneapolis, where Louie worked at Palen Clinic. Tom and Louie later divorced. Louie and her son, Tom, then moved to their home on Mink Lake before moving into the city limits. Upon moving to Maple Lake, Louie continued to work at Palen Clinic. Always staying busy, Louie regularly was working three jobs, whether it be bartending at the Maple Lake VFW and Maple Lake Legion or driving a bus for Mooney Bus Service. She also worked at Wagner Spray Tech in Plymouth, as well as Minnesota Rubber. A large portion of Louie’s working years were spent as a production assistant for Functional Industries. Louie remained at Functional Industries until her retirement in June of 2017. Louie was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake Legion Auxiliary, as well as a longtime team member of the Thomas Marine Softball team. In her spare time, Louie enjoyed dancing and was a member of a line dance competition team that traveled across the U.S. She was also not shy to hop in her car, on a train, or in a plane to travel somewhere, with Alaska being at the top of her list. Louie’s generous spirit was often seen at local benefits, and she gave of her time to various local organizations. Family was always Louie’s top priority. She never missed a family function and relished in the time she was able to spend with those so dear to her.
Louie is survived by her children, Tom (Tracy) Haas of Fargo, ND, and Jane (Dan Schneider) Mayers of Farmington; ex-husband, Tom Haas of Bloomington; siblings, Gerald (Bonnie) Waldorf, Jane (Norby) Stang, Donna (Jim) McIntire, Larry (Mary) Waldorf, Diane (Glen) Herdman, and Joe (Sue) Waldorf; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. Louie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Allan & James Waldorf.
