Irish golfers are third in CMC standings

Maple Lake Golfers finished fifth in a Central Minnesota Conference outing, Monday, May 14, at Paynesville.

Senior Devon Lyons led the Irish with the team’s lowest score of the day. He shot a 44 on the nine-hole Koronis course. Teammates Joe Stok- man and Sam Zappa both shot 48s and Ben Weese shot a 50. The group’s combined total of 190 put them behind Kimball- Eden Valley-Watkins in first with a 175, Pierz in second with a 176, B-B-E in third with a 187 and Osakis in fourth with a 188. B-B-E’s Jayden Miller won medalist honors with 40 strokes.

The Paynesville team fin- ished sixth with a 208 and the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted team shot a 300 for seventh.

K-EV-W (899) remains in first place in CMC standings with Pierz (909) holding onto second and Maple Lake (956) in the third place spot. B-B-E (958) is fourth, Osakis (996) is fifth, Paynesville (1,140) is sixth and HL-W-W (1,500) is seventh.

Individually, Lyons is ranked third in CMC standings with a stroke average of 44.20.

Zappa holds onto the 11th spot with a 47.40 average and Stokman is currently ranked 17th with his 48.80 average.

The Irish will compete in two meets, Friday, May 18. They will travel to Prairie View Golf Course for a 9 a.m. tee- time then to the Osakis Country Club for a 1 p.m. start.
