Maple Lake 10

The Lakers hosted the Cokato Kernels Friday night, May 11, but did not do their guests any favors. Mitch Wurm started the game and kept Cokato from truly threatening to score through four innings. The Lakers took a different offensive approach, scoring three of the first four batters to take an early lead. The bottom part of the order kept up the action in the fourth with straight singles from Brock Fobbe, Graham Brown, and Riley Decker to start a four- run inning. Brown started the fifth with a blast that sailed closer to the mound than home plate, getting fans a cheap drink if they made it to the concession stand before the end of an other- wise quick inning. Jake Johnson made his Laker return and got three strikeouts in two innings of work. Brian Goedker sacrificed to bring in a run in the sixth to setup a two-RBI walk-off double by Logan Orazem to end the game in the seventh. Every Laker tallied a hit, run, or RBI in another team-effort at the plate while they committed no errors in the field.

Maple Lake travel to Cokato on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30, host Chanhassen on May 18 at 7:30, then visit Hutchinson for a 2 p.m. on the 20th.
