CITY OF MAPLE LAKE NOTICE OF HEARING ON PROPOSED ASSESSMENT

Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Maple Lake, Minnesota will meet on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the Maple Lake City Hall, 10 Maple Avenue South, Maple Lake, Minnesota, to consider the proposed assessment for the following Improvement: 2018 Street Improvement Project include complete bituminous removal and replacement for the full neighborhood, and considering Option A (partial curb replacement) or Option B (full replacement within a defined area and partial curb replacement in remainder.) The proposed project area includes all or portions of: • Eighth Street NW (Robert to Oak) • Seventh Street NW (Robert to Oak) • Robert Ave. N (north end to Sixth) • Maple Ave. N (seventh to Sixth) • Sixth Street NW (city park to Birch) The area proposed to be assessed is properties abutting the road, properties which obtain access by using the road, and other benefitted properties. The total amount of the cost of the project and proposed assessment is shown below: Option A: Project Cost = $816,337; Amount to be Assessed = $239,548 Option B: Project Cost = $906,150; Amount to be Assessed = $324,982 The proposed assessment roll is on file with the City Clerk and is open to public inspection. Written or oral objections will be considered at the hearing. No appeal may be taken as to the amount of any assessment adopted pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 429.081, Subdivision 2, unless written objection signed by the affected property owner is filed with the City Clerk prior to the assessment hearing or presented to the presiding officer at the hearing. An owner may appeal an assessment to District Court pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 429.081 by serving notice of the appeal upon the Mayor or Clerk of the City within 30 days after the adoption of the assessment and filing such notice with the District Court within ten days after service upon the Mayor or Clerk.
