Scherber announces candidacy for Wright County Sheriff

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce my candidacy to become the next Wright County Sheriff. I have learned a great deal from my three predecessors, and I believe that it is paramount that the next Sheriff continues the tradition of excellence these outstanding leaders have set into motion. I am committed to the citizens of Wright County, as well as the top-quality men and women who make the Wright County Sheriff’s Office so exceptional. With my proven elected experience, clear vision, and solid work ethic, it is my intention to collaborate with you, along with my colleagues, to make Wright County even stronger.

In my current role as a Sergeant with the Sheriff’s Office, I supervise the Court Security Division. During my twentythree year career with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office I have had the opportunity to lead and work in numerous divisions, including team leader in the Recreational Services Division (boat and water), Major Crimes Investigative Unit, Warrants and Transports, Patrol (Field Training Officer) and the Emergency Response Team. Additionally, I have served as a School Resource Officer and DARE Instructor at Dassel- Cokato School District.

If I am fortunate enough to serve as your next sheriff, I will work diligently to continue the community policing philosophy, as well as provide new training opportunities and stateof- the-art equipment, all while watching the taxpayers’ pocketbook.

For the past fourteen years, I have served on the School Board for the St. Michael-Albertville School District. In my current role as Chair of the School Board, I collaborate with other members to oversee an annual budget of sixty million. Furthermore, I had the privilege to serve a four year term on the St. Michael City Council with our current Wright County Sheriff, Joe Hagerty. Both of these community leadership positions provided me with valuable experience in collaboration, budgeting, and service to others. These experiences have taught me that doing what is best for the community, and especially what is best for our community youth, is at the forefront of what we are striving to accomplish.

It is an honor to say that I am a lifelong resident of Wright County. After graduating from St. Michael Albertville High School, I strove to give back to my community through my involvement in many organizations such as Knights of Columbus, Sons of the American Legion, St. Michael Catholic Church, and Rotary Club.

I would consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as your next Wright County Sheriff. Respectfully, Drew Scherber Website: ScherberforSheriff. com Find me on Facebook
