The Maple Lake softball team is 7-0 after five more wins including two shutouts.
Strong pitching by Calli Maki saw the team to a 12-0 victory over Eden Valley-Watkins in the first of two games with the Eagles, Tuesday, April 24.
Maki struck out 11 batters and surrendered zero runs on three hits in six innings and only walked one. She also led offense, driving in five runs including a home run in the first and a double in the sixth. She was 2-for-4 at the plate.
The Irish had two big innings. They drove in five runs in the first and another five in the sixth. Their two other runs came in the second and fifth innings. Mollie Scheiber also had a home run.
Lindsey Rachel drove in four runs to help the Irish to their second win of the day over the Eagles. Maple Lake came out on top 14-1 with three runs in the first, four in the second and third and three in the fourth. EV-W scored their lone run in the top of the fourth.
The Irish tallied eight hits with Rachel and Maki leading. Rachel had three hits in three at bats. The Irish didn’t commit a single error in the field.
Taylor Hess got the win on the mound for Maple Lake.
