Birds of a feather flock together

Storytime with Marie was flying with the birds this week. Fourteen children enjoyed helping Marie read “Are You My Mother?” by helping the baby bird find his real mother, who was not a kitten, a hen, a dog, a cow, a boat or a “Snort!” The children shared what they brought to show about birds. They learnedsome bird fingerplays and acted out some bird poems. Each child received a “scratch-art” bird to decorate by scratching off some of the top black layer; they came up with some very creative designs. After their group picture each child received a snack. Pictured showing their artwork are – front row: Dom Lang, Axel Melgaard, Asher Pack, Caleb Pack, Tate Nordling. Back row: Marie, Gunnar Melgaard, Madeline Lang, Eliza Nordling, Kaitlyn Uecker, Kate Peterson. Not pictured: Eli Carriveau, Sam Carriveau, Matthias Lang, and Roman Lang. Next week’s theme is “Butterflies.” Come join the fun at the McHugh Building, next to the bakery, at 9:30 a.m., Monday.
