Sniffing out clues with Rowdy!

Another rainy Monday morning didn’t dampen the drive of 11 young readers who came out to Read with Rowdy. They filled in the last words of their weekly poem, read a chapter book about some missing dog treats and the dog who solved the mystery, then worked together to unscramble some of the story words that provided the clues to a secret sentence. The readers then had some time to select new books to check out for next week’s Read and Redeem prize, and an opportunity to practice proper greeting behavior with Rowdy- who was very happy to accept several scratches under the ear. Reading with Rowdy will take a short break from its “Figure It Out” theme next week to join Marie’s Storytime group at the McHugh building for some Independence Day activities, including the annual 4th of July Parade around the block. Rowdy will be festively decked out red, white, and blue, and would love to see his reading buddies do the same! Reading with Rowdy is targeted to young readers who have completed grades 1 – 3, but all ages are welcome.

Registration is not required and there is no charge for the program which is offered at the Maple Lake Library on Monday mornings (9:30-10:30) through July 23.
