Maple Lake pride shines at Minneapolis Aquatennial

By Brenda Erdahl: Alexus Jackson may not have won the Queen of the Lakes title last weekend at the Minneapolis Aquatennial, but she represented Maple Lake well. The 2017 Maple Lake Ambassador competed with royalty from 49 communities around Minnesota Saturday, July 21, at the Ted Mann Concert Hall at the University of Minnesota where a queen and two Aquatennial Princesses were crowned. The girls were judged on poise, professionalism, public speaking ability, current and future goals, education and co-curricular/extracurricular activities. While Haley Rogers of Albertville claimed the Queen of the Lakes honor and Mandy Rochel of Chisago Lakes and Courtney Engholm of Sleepy Eye were named princesses, Maple Lake organizers said Jackson did her hometown proud.
