Deringer, Kaczmarek prevail in primary race for Wright County Sheriff

Sean Deringer of Maple Lake and Mike Kaczmarek of Woodland Township are the two remaining candidates for Wright County Sheriff after the Tuesday, Aug. 14, primary election.
Deringer garnered the most support out of the five contestants with 5,543 votes or 32 percent. Kaczmarek was close behind with 5,032 or 29 percent of the votes. The two will face off in the Nov. 6 election for the position that opened after current sheriff Joe Hagerty announced his retirement earlier this year.
Drew Scherber of St. Michael collected the third most votes in the county with 3,155, Stacy Braun of Monticello was fourth with 2,471 votes and Chad Torkelson of Hanover was fifth with 1,184 votes.
