Adrienne “Ade” Ward Melgaard, age 74 of Buffalo, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. She was born on March 22, 1944 in St. Paul, the daughter of Arnold and Lillian (Anderson) Johnson. Adrienne was a graduate from Alexander Ramsey High School in Roseville. She attended the University of Minnesota and worked in the University Law Offices. Adrienne was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and volunteered for many activities with the church. She was also a member of the National Ski Patrol and Chisago Lakes Water Ski Club. Adrienne was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all. She was a great cook with a good wit and had “the look” that only a Swede could give. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, driving, antiquing, sewing, candle making, crafts, and she was a talented artist. On September 20, 1974, Adrienne was united in marriage to Gerard Melgaard in Aspen, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Terri Lynn Holmer; parents, Arnold and Lillian Johnson; and sister, Kirsten Olson. Adrienne is survived by her husband, Gerard Melgaard; daughter, Camille Anne (Ian) MacCallum, and their sons: Tucker and Maxwell; son, Hans (Jeani) Melgaard and their children: Isabelle, Larson, Gunnar and Axel; and sister-in-law, Jan Olson. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Stephanie Shaffer, Leslie Anderson, Hunter Anderson, Scott Olson, Christopher Olson and Todd Olson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. A private family burial will occur at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
