Open water spotted on Ramsey Lake

By Brenda Erdahl-Anglers heading out to do some fishing on Ramsey Lake should keep their eye out for open water on the southern end of the lake. Members of the Ramsey Lake Association have flagged and posted warnings around a hole that opened 320 to 375 feet offshore in about 40 feet of water west and south of the public access. Bobby Anglin of the Ramsey Lake Association said he hasn’t seen anything like it in his four years living on the lake. The opening is about five feet long and just as wide at its widest spot and if you look close enough you can see bubbles coming up in the hole. The surrounding ice is about 8 inches thick, but it lessens to 4 inches then 2 inches as it nears the opening, Anglin said. To read the entire front page story, go to page 5 of today’s Messenger.
