ANML prepares for post season

The Annandale-Maple Lake wrestling team rounded out its regular season last weekend with a Friday night (Feb. 7) home dual with Scott West, a co-op of Belle Plaine and Jordan, and then the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 8. Lightning 22, Scott West 41 Friday’s dual was a hard-fought 41-22 loss to Scott West, the No. 8 ranked team in the state. “We wrestled them tough, and I was proud of our effort. They are just one of those teams that know how to win,” Lightning Head Coach Ben Youngs said. Winning for the Lightning were Zach Pribyl at 120 pounds, Zach Schmidt at 145 pounds, Logan Arnold at 170 pounds, Adam Neumann at 182 pounds, and Kessler Kenning at 285 pounds. HL-W-W Invite Saturday’s meet was an individual tournament against competitors from nine different schools. The Lightning finished second only to Watertown-Mayer-Mayer Lutheran. “I thought we brought a lot of aggressiveness. We were pushing the pace and battled well,” Youngs said.
