Laker’s baseball season is still uncertain

While Governor Tim Walz announced last week in Phase 3 of the Stay Safe MN plan that outdoor entertainment venues, such as sporting events may open at 25 percent capacity starting June 10, what that means for amateur baseball teams like the Maple Lake Lakers is still uncertain.

The Minnesota Baseball Association board met via zoom Friday, June 5, to discuss the Governor’s announcement a day earlier. Since the Governor did not specifically address amateur baseball, the board decided it needed better clarification before making any decisions on the 2020 season.

The Lakers had announced in an earlier Facebook message that they had hoped to still play a shortened season this year.
