Kings 46 has second opening

By Brenda Erdahl

Katie King, owner of Kings 46 in downtown Maple Lake envisioned a crowded grand opening of her classic wine and beer bar the week of the city’s popular St. Patrick’s Day celebration in March.

What she got was a cancelled festival and a mere 12 hours with the open sign in her window before COVID-19 closed her down for 12 ½ weeks.

“I didn’t get to do a true grand opening, but the week of the parade included all of my inspections. Tuesday electrical, Wednesday plumbing, Thursday health department and Friday alcohol inspection. I passed all and was able to open the 14th (St. Patrick’s Day) for twelve hours. It was a great day even without the giant crowds. I planned to reopen on Tuesday and the state was closed down on Monday,” she said.
