Susan Boros, wins Maple Lake Area Community Guide Photo Contest!

Susan Boros, of Maple Lake takes home the top prize in this year’s photo contest with the photo dubbed “Calm Waters” during turbulent times with the photo of their 1972 Mirrocraft fishing boat she submitted for our 2020-2021 Community Guide. Boros’ husband has had the boat since he was a child so there has been a lot of fishing memories made in it. They took the boat out on Lake Sullivan to test the motor and boat out when the photo was shot. Boros will be featured on this year’s front cover. Runners up were Kenlyn Marsicek and Liela (Hoiland) Waibel. Marsicek’s photo was a yellow swallowtail butterfly resting on a basket of flowers in her back yard and Waibel’s close-up photo of a purple flower will also be showcased on the inside of the Community Guide. Contest winners can contact our office to claim their prizes.
Others that received votes on their photos were Leann Yager with her great lake shot, Chris McClory for his sunset over the farm, Emily Podolske for her photo of Puddin’ the cat following her down to the lake, Cole Erdahl (age 13) for his sunset through sunglasses and Allie McClory (age 12) for her beautiful close up of the white flowers. There were quite a few awesome pictures to choose from! Thank you to everyone who submitted photos.
