The importance of patience in a pandemic

By Pastor Marc Well Nagel, Bethlehem UCC

One of my hobbies is growing miniature trees indoors at our home. In addition to my lemon and coffee trees, I have six miniature key lime trees of three different ages. My two oldest trees are 4 years old and have started to produce for the first time. I have made my first two key lime pies as the production of fruit was slow to start. In the next couple of months, though, I should have enough limes to make six or more pies. I am excited!

The reality is that it has taken four years of carefully nurturing, watering, trimming, fertilizing, and transplanting the two older trees to get to this point. There were four years with no fruit, no pies, and a lot of wondering about whether they would bear fruit. But, the trees kept growing and they were healthy, so I continued to nurture and care for them.
