Maple Lake’s boys cross country team opened its season with a runner-up finish at home at Ney Park, Friday, Sept. 4.
The Irish finished second with 65 points behind a strong Holdingford team that tallied just 44 points. Finishing in a close third was Royalton who edged the Irish by just one point.
Senior Nathan Carl led the way for the Irish, finishing third in 19:33.07. Following closely was senior Daniel Neutz who posted a time of 19:46.64 for fifth place.
