Senior runners satisfied despite shortened season

By Brenda Erdahl

In last week’s paper, all but four senior athletes were honored for their dedication to the sport of cross country. Molly Erickson, Megan Lind, Kaitlyn Main and Abby Althoff ran the final races of their high school career this fall along with the eight other seniors mentioned last week.

Unfortunately, because of COVID, the number of those races were fewer and all of them had a much different feel than the ones past seniors have experienced. Less competition, staggered sessions and limited spectators were a few of the stipulations put in place this strange 2020 running season.

Both the varsity and junior varsity athletes saw their share of victories, and it’s likely some of those runners could have gone far in a normal post-season competition.
