The Irish girls basketball team fell to Kimball and Eden Valley-Watkins in two Central Minnesota Conference contests last week, but not without a good fight.
On Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Irish hosted Kimball. The Cubs were quick from the tip off, getting the first basket of the evening which set the tone for the game and led to a 57-40 win over the home team.
Maple Lake struggled against Kimball pressure that forced them to rush on offense. A 15-0 run gave the Cubs a 17-3 lead. Despite some quality offensive possessions, the Irish just could not capitalize and turnovers helped build a 36-18 Kimball lead by half time.
