Irish athletes are glad to be back after a year without

By Brenda Erdahl

Spring sports resumed last week for Maple Lake High School athletes more than a year after being sidelined by COVID-19.

Softball, track and field and golf will compete next week for the first time since the 2019 season with baseball scheduled to hold its first game Friday, April 9. MLHS also offers trapshooting in the spring.

For many it is a bittersweet return having lost handfuls of seniors who didn’t get to play in 2020 and who would have likely propelled Maple Lake sports into several state tournaments.
