The Irish baseball team played one game in the last seven days after two were cancelled due to quarantining. Thursday’s (4-29) double header in Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and Friday’s (4-30) game with Holy Family Catholic were both reschedule to later dates. On Monday, May 3, the Irish were back on the field where they met Kimball at home and squeezed out a 16-15 win.

The Irish came back from an 8-0 deficit in the second inning with RBIs from Luke Goelz, Eddy Neu, Noah Beffel, Brady Scanlon and Marcus Weimer. Together they notched seven runs for the home team. It was a back-and-forth game from there until Beffel’s walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. The Irish were down 14-15, when Beffel’s single scored two runs.

Scanlon led the charge offensively going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s. Neu had five hits and two RBI’s.

Nathan Zander picked up the win in the relief pitching the last two innings. After a short start by Beffel, Carter Scanlon threw three innings of relief to keep the Irish within striking distance.

“We look to improve in the field as we made three errors and gave too many extra outs. All and all, a nice comeback win, and the young team battled and keeps building,” Coach Craig Meyer said.
