Brute’s Bleat by Harold Brutlag

I fell short on giving my readers a first hand account of fishing mainly because it was just too darn hot to be on the lakes last week. George Palmer came out on Thursday to give me a hand on reading my 16 foot Aluma Craft and 25 hp. Mercury motor for the season. Palmer got all the heavy lifting, putting the batteries in place, hooking up the wires for the motor plus the depth finder, sump pump and live well pump. Then we headed for a service station with an air compressor and pumped up the trailer tires which always seem to lose pressure over the winter. We put in some fuel and headed by Maple Lake to see if our vintage equipment, years 64-65, could handle a shake down cruise.
