Two Maple Lake youths were surprised when a Wright County Deputy in pursuit of a juvenile ran through the backyard where they were playing Sunday night, June 6, hopped a fence and disappeared.
The incident happened on Rose Avenue North in Maple Lake and several neighbors also happened to be out on the warm evening to witness it.
According to the Wright County Sheriff’s department, a juvenile male left the Maple Lake Recovery center located on Division Street, in violation of a court order mandating he be there. At approximately 7:16 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the recovery center. After gathering information and getting a description of the juvenile male they were able to locate him. The juvenile male fled from deputies on foot but was eventually apprehended and brought back to the recovery center.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the juvenile was issued a citation for fleeing a peace officer on foot.
The two young witnesses suffered no ill effects from the incident and soon after resumed their game as if nothing had happened.
