Dozens of people showed their support of Maple Lake native Carol McBrady and her work in Zambia Africa, Sunday, Aug. 15 at the Maple Lake American Legion. The event was an annual fundraiser for Action for Children Zambia, an organization created by McBrady to provide stability, care, and love to homeless children in Zambia. The event featured a pancake breakfast, raffles, silent auction and more. McBrady spoke about AFCZ and shared some of its success stories including the recent construction of a church. Money raised at Sunday’s event will go toward the children’s education and housing at AFCZ’s three sites, Salvation Home, Redemption Home and Kulunga Bana Farm. For those who missed Sunday’s event, donations can still be made at www.afczambia.org. All financial gifts between now and Aug. 30 will be matched by an anonymous donor up to $10,000.
