Howard Lake’s Orphans were the only team to defeat Loretto in the Region 12C double elimination tournament at Delano (3-1) and the Larks went on to defeat the rest of their opponents taking the championship 6-1 from host Delano Sunday afternoon.
Maple Lake’s Lakers finished 4th and ironically defeated the Orphans 4-3 in ten innings Friday which put them in the State Tournament which begins Aug. 20 at Chaska, Waconia and Hamburg .
It was a clutch game for the Lakers who hadn’t defeated arch-rival Howard Lake in league play all summer.
