Representing the Maple Lake Library Board, Lynn Kissock and Nick Pawlenty addressed Maple Lake City Councilmembers Tuesday, August 17, with thanks for the City’s past financial support, along with a request for more.

City funding for the library was $10,000 per year until the library moved to a larger location, when the annual funding was upped to $15,000. This year the library is requesting $20,000, which would go toward rent, which is $1,500 per month, and toward electric, gas and water bills, which amount to around $5,500 annually. The library’s annual fundraiser did not occur in 2020, and the library is currently running at a deficit. This year’s fundraiser is expected to bring in around $23,000, and combined with City funding of $20,000 and other grants and donations, revenue should be sufficient for an annual operating budget of approximately $55,000.
