The Maple Lake Lakers secured the fourth seed for Region 12C in the upcoming state tournament. Loretto beat Maple Lake (fourth seed) then Hutchinson (third seed) and finally Delano (second seed) to claim the North Star League crown and the top seed from Region 12C. Every team participating in the state tournament is allowed to draft three pitchers from other teams in the region and the Lakers drafted Eric Newman and Michael Weber from Buffalo and Mike Dockendorf from Howard Lake. The Minnesota Class C State Tournament will take place in Waconia, Chaska, and Hamburg this year and will run for the next three weekends. Maple Lake will take on the number two seed from Region 13, the Milroy Irish, at 7:30 on Friday, August 20, in Hamburg.
