JOAN ELIZABETH STREICH, Maple Lake

Joan Elizabeth Streich, age 87, of Marysville Township, rural Maple Lake, MN passed away on Friday, October 8th, 2021 early morning at her home.

She was born on January 17, 1934, at Crookston Hospital in Polk County to Fred and Mabel (Street) Randel.

Joan was baptized on October 7th, 1934 at The United Lutheran Church in Beltrami, MN.   She was confirmed on March 21, 1948 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN.

Joan graduated from Buffalo High School in May of 1952.

On August 20th, 1954, Joan married Reuben Streich at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN by Pastor E.R. Berwald.   To this union five children were born.  

At various church’s, Joan taught Sunday School and directed choir for over forty years.

Joan was a farmer’s wife, her and Reuben farmed all of their lives.   Joan had a passion for gardening and a green thumb.   She was also a great cook!   Her family will always remember her homemade relish, apple butter jelly, popcorn balls, potato salad, chocolate chip cookies and famous ice cream sandwiches.

Survived by her five children: Bradley Streich of Maple Lake, Brian (Pam) Streich of Cokato, Brenda (Kevin) Saxton of Concord, North Carolina, Bonny (Chris) Luthy of Awendaw, South Carolina and Bruce (Angie) Streich of Albertville; eight grandchildren: Joshua (Kelli) Saxton, Kyle (Alyson) Saxton, Tyler Streich, Caleb Streich, Danielle Streich, Nathan Streich, Joel Streich and Aaron Streich; two great granddaughters: Finley and Harper Saxton; two step grandchildren: Madison Mehr and Antonio Earl; a brother: David (Margaret) Randel and a sister: Jean Birkholz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Alvin (Jackie) Streich, Dorothy Loch, Marvin Streich, Marion Loch, Don (Yvonne) Streich and Janet (Ed) Swingley; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Reuben Streich, her parents Fred & Mabel Randel, father-in-law & mother-in-law Adolph and Ella Streich, nephews Steven Birkholz and Patrick Randel, a niece Angela Wagner and brothers-in-law Willis Birkholz, Ronald Loch and Don Loch.

Funeral Services for Joan Streich will be held on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.   Pastor David Mensing will officiate.

Interment will follow at The Maple Lake Community Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13th from 4-7 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.   Further visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14th one hour prior to services.

Casket Bearers will be eight grandchildren: Joshua  Saxton, Kyle Saxton, Tyler Streich, Caleb Streich, Danielle Streich, Nathan Streich, Joel Streich and Aaron Streich.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Buffalo Food Shelf.
